Oxford Changing Highway 7-Sisk Ave. Traffic

OXFORD – The City of Oxford would like to notify everyone to expect a change in traffic patterns on Sisk Avenue at the intersection of Highway 7 beginning around 2 pm today.

This configuration will also be in place Wednesday morning.

The City of Oxford Public Works Department and Police Department will be installing traffic cones to direct traffic flow into a trial three-lane configuration.

Temporary turn lanes will be installed under the Highway 7 overpass using cones. An additional lane will be designated for traffic traveling from Sisk towards the schools at the intersection.

Cars exiting Highway 7 north traveling towards the schools will have a dedicated lane between the exit ramp and Ed Perry Boulevard. Cars traveling from Sisk towards the school will travel through a lane-shift so that cars from the exit ramp can enter Sisk Avenue.

Officers will be on-site to direct traffic. Motorists are asked to be attentive and patient as they travel in the area.

The City is working to find a long-term solution to the traffic issues and will re-evaluate each measure attempted to determine the best outcome for all.

Updates and additional information will be provided on the City of Oxford’s website and twitter site.
