Oxford High ROTC Earns Honor
“Out of 40 other high schools in Region 2, our high school’s Marine Corps JROTC was selected for the Naval Honors School based on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities and more, “ said Oxford High School Marine Corps JROTC Colonel Doug Cromwell. “We are extremely proud of our students for this regional achievement and the hard work that comes into play in being named a Naval Honors School.”
Oxford High School’s Marine Corps JROTC unit was selected based on data gathered from five categories:
extracurricular activities, scholastic achievement, cadet citizenship, unit participation and unit inspection.
“The report details the activities and accomplishments of the cadets in the JROTC program from everything to their participation in school organizations and sports, to community service, physical fitness test scores and academic honors,” said Colonel Cromwell. “One of the key areas in the review process is always unit participation, which includes cadet enrollment.”
