Oxford Man Accused of Assaulting Pregnant Woman

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI)-Oxford police say a pregnant woman was brutally assaulted by her ex-husband.

Jerimia Lawson was arrested this past weekend. Investigators say they responded to a disturbance call.

Once officers got to the scene the victim told police she was assaulted by Lawson, her ex-husband, who strangled and kicked her in the stomach.

The victim is 6 months pregnant. She was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Lawson was arrested for domestic violence, aggravated assault. His bond was set at $10,000.

The baby was not harmed in the alleged assault.
