Part of Monroe Co. Highway to Get New Name

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Part of a highway in Monroe County is getting a new name.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation has announced that a stretch of U.S. Highway 278 intersecting Monroe County will be named after the late state representative William Jerome Huskey.

The part being renamed starts in Amory, and extends southeast toward the Mississippi-Alabama state line.

Transportation officials say the new name is a fitting way to pay tribute to an individual who served his community and state so well.
