Video: Pedestrian Struck in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) One man was taken into custody by Tupelo police after he allegedly hit a pedestrian in the 300 block of Rankin.

The incident occurred around 6:30 (Friday) this evening. Police say two women were walking along the street when the driver came through and suddenly veered over and struck one of the women.

She was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. The other pedestrian was not hurt. Police took the driver into custody. There were several prescription pill bottles recovered from the vehicle but officers do not know if they have any bearing on the case.

The investigation is continuing.
