Perkins Receives Baptist Volunteer Honor
Jane Perkins has been named Volunteer of the Year for 2012-13 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle. Perkins began volunteering at Baptist Golden Triangle in February 2008 and has accumulated more than 1,900 hours of service with the BMH-GT Auxiliary.
She currently serves as a member of the Auxiliary Board as assistant treasurer and recording secretary and is also a member of the Auxiliary’s telephone committee. As Gift Shop substitute, she covers when volunteers are out.
“Always willing to help, Jane has recently taken on other tasks to generate more Gift Shop sales, which include creating collegiate and other themed door wreaths, candy cups and vases and also balloon arrangements,” explained Cathy Johnson, volunteer coordinator.
“But her volunteering does not stop there. Jane also works at the front desk once a week, providing information and direction to family members and visitors with a warm and friendly smile – and, she also helps deliver newspapers to patients, Johnson added.
“With a heart for service, she is dedicated to helping the hospital’s auxiliary in any way that is needed. Jane is truly an outstanding, extraordinary volunteer, providing service that is always above and beyond,” Johnson said.
