Pittsboro Post Office Reduces Hours of Operation

PITTSBORO, Miss. (WCBI) — The US Postal Service’s four-year effort to cut costs continues to hit home in north Mississippi.

Starting Monday, the Pittsboro office will reduce its hours to 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

County officials say they understand the reduction, but would prefer the post office open at 7:30 a.m. on some days to better serve county offices, which are located across the street.

So far, the postal service is sticking with the planned hours.

Closures and reduced hours across the country have saved the service almost $900 million a year, but it’s still losing money.
