Video: Police And A.T.F. Investigating Bomb Threat At Columbus Hospital

Update: BMH-GT says the all clear has been given at the hospital.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A bomb threat was called into Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle on Friday afternoon.

Interim Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton tells WCBI the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was called in to help investigate the threat because it involves a hospital. The report of the bomb threat happened just after noon.

Non-essential personnel were evacuated.

A BMH-GT spokesperson says all safety procedures are being followed.

“Patient safety is our top priority. We went into our disaster mode plan and secured patients where they are.
Family members were asked to evacuate. They will be able to return when the scene is secure.
The Columbus Air Force Base bomb squad will sweep the building before it is deemed safe.
The BMH-GT emergency room will continue to treat patients with severe conditions,” said spokesperson Christina Dickey.
