COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Two more Columbus police officers have received long suspensions for policy violations.

Rebecca Lomax was suspended for 23 days for her third traffic accident in less than two years with the department.

Officer Vincent Samuel, who has been with the department for more than four years, is suspended for 30 days for leaving a prisoner with health issues in the back of his patrol car while he was talking with a woman.

The prisoner had some kind of seizure and paramedics had to be called. Lomax contested her punishment before the City Council, but the 32-year-old Samuel did not.

Meanwhile, the Civil Service Commission will hear Officer Lance Luckey’s appeal Monday at 1 p.m. Luckey was suspended 30 days earlier this month after he ‘Liked” an inappropriate Facebook post by a Columbus firefighter who resigned over his actions. Two other firefighters were suspended 30 days for ‘Liking’ the post but did not appeal their suspensions.
