PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — By this summer, Pontotoc area residents should have a new farmers’ market and community gathering spot downtown at Jefferson and Lafayette streets.

Construction has begun on the Off the Square Market and Roberts Builders has 60 days to complete the project. It will have 11 covered bays complete with water and electricity for farmers’ and others to sell their goods. It’ll have an arbored entry way and an 8,000-square-foot courtyard.

The Pontotoc Chamber hopes to have its annual dinner there in June.

The land was donated to the city and the market is being paid for by tourism funds.
