Video: Pontotoc Law Enforcement Going Mobile to Keep Up With Thieves

[bitsontherun gIIcWaAC]PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — Criminals and thieves are becoming more mobile and area law enforcement agencies are finding new tools to catch up with them.

Pontotoc Police and the County Sheriff’s Department are signing up with LeadsOnline, an Internet service that connects thousands of businesses and law enforcement agencies to help track stolen merchandise, identity theft and other crimes.

Among other things, the system contains pawn shop inventories and even pharmacy transactions. That’ll help local investigators track everything from stolen merchandise sold in other areas to people going to other states to buy ingredients for crystal meth.

The Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department tested the system for two months with some success. The two departments will split the $2,200 monthly fee.
