Pontotoc Man Dies in Morning Crash

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE) The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating an early morning crash in Pontotoc County that claimed the life of a Pontotoc man. Troopers responded to the scene at 5:00 am, at the intersection of Rocky Ford Road and US 278.

Upon arriving, it appeared Rickey Bagwell, 52, of Ponotoc, was traveling north bound on Rocky Ford Rd, in a 2004 Oldsmobile, when he apparently failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of a west bound 2006 International Semi-Tractor/Trailer, operated by Nickey F Curtis, 37, of Corinth.

Bagwell received fatal injuries in the crash and died at the crash scene.

Curtis and another passenger was uninjured in the crash.
