PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) – A public hearing will be held in Pontotoc city hall Tuesday (11-6) evening to discuss the possible development of a park and playground in the eastern sector of the city.

The hearing is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

The board will hear from Habitat for Humanity officials about developing a park on some property owned by the organization.

Barbara Carter, Habitat Executive Director, indicated that Habitat would be willing to lease or maybe deed the park space to the city for development as a playground area.

The effort to develop a safe place for children to play is accredited to local resident Jeffery Hall who told the board a park is needed for kids in the D.T. Cox Elementary School area.
