Popular Phone Scam Surfacing In Area

AMORY, Miss, (WCBI) — Help me I’m in jail is the lure of a popular scam surfacing in Amory and parts of North Mississippi.

Amory police say some area elderly residents are being targeted y phone calls they are led to believe are from grandchildren. The caller says the family ember is locked up in a distant state or smetimes another country and money is needed right then to have them released. Police say those with older parents should make them aware of the possible scam.
