WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- It was a fun filled day in downtown West Point this morning for the second day of the annual Prairie Arts Festival. There was plenty to see with over 300 vendors.

The Prairie Arts Festival kicked off Saturday morning in West Point for the 34th year, everyone came out to the streets to enjoy some great live music and some nice arts and crafts.

“It’s hot but it’s fun and there’s cute clothes and good food!” said local Brinkley Livingston.

“Pretty fun, I’m enjoying it,” added Liam Mathis.

300 vendors came from all over the state to show off their specialties, with plenty of hand crafted items to choose from.

“I’ve always done hand made gifts for my sisters or family and friends so I decided to start bring it to a local festival and it went pretty well,” said vendor Chamel Evans.

“We do the festival every year, it’s been a little slow for us this year, you know maybe the weather holding everybody back but at the end of the day we should make some money anyway,” said vendor Richard McDongal.

The festival even attracted local performers to the streets, gathering a crowd of spectators and families to enjoy.

“Theres fantastic music, fantastic musicians every where and it needs to be out in the streets where everyone can see it,” said musician Keatzi Gunmoney.

Although the weather wasn’t at its best, that didn’t stop the local community from coming out to enjoy the fun.

Locals are proud to say the Prairie Festival is still going strong after 34 years and look forward to next year.
