Update – One Critical After School Bus Accident

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Prentiss County. Troopers were dispatched to the rear-end collision on MS 365, near MS 30, at approximately 7am. Upon arriving, it appeared Kacey L Phifer, 36, was traveling south on MS 365, in a 2010 Buick Lacrosse, when she apparently collided into the rear of a stopped school bus.

The school bus was in the process of loading a child and there were 20 students on the bus. Two of the children were transported to the North Mississippi Health Services in Iuka with minor injuries. The operator of the bus was uninjured.

Phifer was airlifted to the MED in Memphis in critical condition. She remains in critical but stable condition.

A child in Phifer’s vehicle received minor injuries.

The school bus belonged to the Prentiss County School District.

Phifer is a teacher with Tishomingo Elementary School.
