TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Area celebrities were singing for tips Tuesday night at Tupelo’s Fairpark Grill.

It was part of the annual “Celebrity Wait Night” and all tips went to “Race for the Cure.”   The event is a major fundraiser and helps area women get much needed medical tests.

The celebrity wait night is the kickoff for fundraising for “Race for the Cure”

“Since the race is in October and October is considered breast cancer awareness month, this is just a great opportunity for us to let people know the race is coming up and they can start getting involved with fundraising right now,” said Cindy Hale, with Komen of Northeast Mississippi.

WCBI’s Allie Martin was one of the celebrity waiters.

Race for the Cure takes place October 24 in downtown Tupelo.
