Racecar Driver Killed After Crash At Starkville Raceway

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A racecar driver is killed after a crash while he was on a test run at Starkville Raceway.

Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt says the crash happened about 9 PM Sunday at the drag strip.

Hunt says Sam McFarland, 68, of Aberdeen was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center West Point in a private vehicle after crashing into a guardrail.

The raceway is located on Old West Point Road, near the Oktibbeah-Clay County line.

McFarland died early Monday morning of multi-system trauma.
