COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-  A dozen hours on the radio could mean thousands of dollars for a local children’s home.

The Palmer House held its third annual radiothon on the Supertalk Mississippi Network.

The broadcast went live from 6 AM to 6 PM. The goal this year was to raise $120,000, beating last year’s $100,000 amount.

The audience heard from alumni, children, staff, and supporters of the Palmer Home. Three major talk shows, “The Gallo Radio Show”, “The JT Show”, and “Head to Head” with Matt Wyatt and Richard Cross, showcased the positive impact Palmer Home for Children has on kids in need.

“The stories behind the people, the people who have grown up here, they are coming back and sharing their stories with us today and doing it over the air,” said JT Williamson, host of “The JT Show.” “It’s just wonderful wonderful work they do here.”

Williamson, says because the children and alumni participated in the radiothon, he didn’t have to say much for supporters to open their wallets.

“The stories speak for themselves, the children speak for themselves,” Williamson said. “The neat thing is they [alumni] always give back to Palmer home. They’re always willing to come back here and share their stories.”

The money raised from the radiothon will go directly to the Palmer Home for Children
For 120 years the Palmer home has helped disadvantaged children.
