Red Cross Sending Volunteers to the Carolinas

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — American Red Cross volunteers are stepping in to help flooding victims impacted by the storms on the East Coast.

The Red Cross is providing 35 shelters and support to those affected by the flooding in North and South Carolina.

Many have homes that were destroyed, or they are without water and power.

The organization’s Mississippi region has sent seven trained volunteers.

“Yesterday, we deployed a volunteer from right here in North Mississippi down to the area,” said Patty Tucker, Executive Director, North Mississippi chapter. “She’s arrived, and she’s working in the shelter. People can help by making a monetary donation to the Red Cross.”

To do that, visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
