COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus City Hall is about to get a makeover.

This will be the century-old building’s first restoration since the 1980s.

So far, city officials have received $1 million from the state for the project, and plan to seek $500,000 more from the Legislature.

Heavy-duty work is expected to start in the next few weeks.

City Hall employees will move out by the end of September, and work out of the municipal complex for up to 10 months.

Renovations include new doors and windows, and an updated ramp leading up to the building.
