Video: Residents Drink Wassail in Downtown Tradition

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — People are getting into the holiday spirit, sipping drinks filled with apple flavors, cinnamon, and other secret ingredients for this year’s Wassail Fest.

Folks walked through 10 businesses in downtown Columbus Friday night to see who had the best wassail.

Residents tell WCBI they love participating in the annual tradition.

“It brings everybody around happy and joy before Christmas starts, and once you see everybody walk around, everybody’s happy and having fun going into stores, and looking into the shops,” said resident Emerald Kilpatrick.

Mississippi University for Women hosted its own wassail event, following the downtown festival.
