Starkville, Miss. (WCBI) — Today was the final day in a series of meetings where Dalhoff Thomas Design Studio architects met with Starkville residents to hear their input on their parks and recreation system.

The Starkville Board of Alderman is looking to expand their parks system, and are going to the people for help.

Architects gave residents remote clickers and surveyed the crowd on their thoughts of their parks based on aspects like funding, maintenance, and what features are the most important.

Sam Henry, project lead Dalhoff Thomas landscape architect, said he’s been very impressed with the resident turnout and that it makes their job easier when they’re able to engage the people who will be using the parks.

“It’s really encouraging for us to see that the people of Starkville care about their parks and want their input heard”, said Henry.

Now that the public surveys are complete, project leaders will compare that data to their own analysis of the Starkville park system and create a presentation for the Board of Alderman about the suggested course of action.

Henry said the process will take “three to four months.”
