UNDATED (WCBI) – Retail sales across the region got a little merrier in November.

New state figures show that compared to the previous year, taxes collected on November sales rose in 52 of 84 towns across the region. That came after two straight months where gainers lagged behind losers. The figures show most towns only saw small increases over the previous year but experts say that trend will continue for several more months as the region’s economy slowly recovers from the recession. Oxford and Houston were among the exceptions with gains of more than 5 percent. Among the region’s largest retail markets, Columbus is the biggest worry, recording its sixth monthly decline in the last seven months.
