Reward Rises In Alabama Animal Abuse Case

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – The Guardians of Rescue, a national pet rescue group, has put $2,500 toward the reward for more information in a Tuscaloosa cat abuse case.

Media outlets report that earlier this month, a video of a cat being beaten with a belt was posted on social media and went viral. Police say Brandon White, a University of Alabama student, is the man beating the cat in the video. Police located the cat at White’s house and seized some pieces of evidence. They haven’t located White.

The Humane Society of the United States is also offering a $5,000 reward and the Tuscaloosa CrimeStoppers is offering another $1,000 for information.

Captain Brad Mason says no one has been arrested in the case because officers are trying to determine where the beating took place.
