Louisville, Miss. (WCBI) — Many 10 year old boys jump right into football, basketball, baseball, you name it.

But Colton Mewbourn is not like many 10 year olds.

Mewbourn is already a champion in Mississippi, winning the Junior Steer Riding championship.

His next challenge, to be a Miniature Bucking Bulls champion at the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas.

“It’s a very big dream. I’ve been dreaming it since I was very little…”, Mewbourn said.

His parents, Kristi and Carroll, know Colton isn’t your average 10 year old every time he climbs on a bull’s back.

His father says he gets “sick in the stomach” everytime he watches Colton ride, but makes sure to “pray for safety.”

Although they know the dangers, his parents are always at his side supporting him each step of the way.

“…we want him to follow his dreams…”, says mother Kristi, “…and as J.B. Moody and all other bull riders, they were once 10 years old and we want him to follow his dreams and his dream is to become a world champion bull rider one day.”

The family hosted the Bull and Barrels Rodeo at the Louisville Coliseum today to help raise money for Colton’s trip to the finals.

All the money earned will help Colton live his dream and his parents say the community has been behind them from the very start.
