PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A multi-jurisdictional chase earlier this month yielded one arrest.

According to a press release provided by the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, late in the evening Aug. 31, Prentiss County sheriff’s deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on 43-year-old Rienzi man Gary Brian Lee.

During the stop, deputies discovered Lee to be in possession of a controlled substance. Per the release, Lee allegedly jumped in his vehicle and fled the scene, leading deputies on a chase which spanned three Mississippi counties.

Lee allegedly led authorities into Alcorn County where, according to the release, he “abandoned his vehicle and fled into the woods on foot.”

Prentiss County deputies, assisted by Mississippi Highway Patrol and Alcorn County deputies, searched for Lee with a local search team and canine track dog.

The next day, Sept. 1, Lee was reportedly discovered in Tippah County and immediately arrested by Tippah County authorities. Lee was then taken back to Prentiss County to face felony and misdemeanor charges, including felony fleeing.

Lee’s bond was set at $20,500 total — $15,000 for the felony charge and $5,500 on the misdemeanor charges. According to the release, Lee was out on felony bonds in both Prentiss and Alcorn Counties, but had not yet been indicted on charges.
