‘Road Rage’ May Have Sparked Gunfire

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Booneville man faces charges after allegedly shooting at a car on Highway 45 Alternate this afternoon in what investigators say likely was a case of “road rage.”

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department says 28-year-old Justin Cory Sartain is being held in Lee County after his car was stopped at the Green Street exit on Highway 45 there by Lee County authorities following the incident near Smoky’s in Monroe County at about 1:25 p.m. Verona, Shannon and Tupelo police and the Lee County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the stop.

He allegedly got angry at the driver of another car and fired a shot. The other driver was not injured and followed Sartain and got a tag number.

Charges are pending.
