Video: Run for Education
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Dozens of people showed up Saturday morning for a 5k run in Starkville to help give back.
The annual Run for Education was held at the Sportsplex and was open to the public for anyone that wanted to participate. The Mississippi State University Men’s Cross Country team was there helping an 8th grader from Armstrong Middle in the race who was in a wheel chair. They helped push him all the way to the finish line. It’s a run that many enjoy to be a part of.
“The race is to raise money for the Starkville foundation for public education, it’s in memory of Hannah Pote who’s a former Starkville High School cross country runner and it’s to raise money to put back into public education and mainly for schooling and grant opportunities for teachers,” said Kim Mattox, from the Foundation for Public Education.
It was a great family event and also included a fun run for the kids. Some participants have been running this race for 21 years.
