Runoff to be Held for Ward 5 Race

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Ward 5 residents went to the polls, Tuesday, to pick a new city councilman.

The seat was left open after Kabir Karriem won the election to the state house of representatives.

With all boxes reporting, Marthalie Porter held a 100 point lead over Stephen Jones, but neither had a majority.

Now voters will head back to the polls March 1 for a runoff between Porter and Jones.

Affidavit ballots will be counted Wednesday morning.
