Rust College, Oliver Trial Date Set
OXFORD, Miss.,(WCBI) — Nine women have filed a sexual misconduct file against Rust College and a former professor.
The case was initiated when former professor, Sylvester Oliver, was accused of forcing himself on a student in his office two years ago. Several other women joined the case later as Jane Does. The cases date back as far as the school year 1993-1994.
Oliver was caught in the act of assaulting another student in 2003 and asked to resign. However, he was rehired by Rust College in 2008 , despite knowledge of his actions. Due to Rust College’s decision to rehire Oliver, it is named as co-defendant along with President David Beckley.
The trial is set for Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Federal Building of Oxford.
