VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) — A Saltillo man with an extensive criminal history ranging from drugs to attempted murder is charged with robbing Renasant Bank on Raymond Street in Verona Friday afternoon.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says 41-year-old Michael Oliver has been charged with robbery. The sheriff says Oliver walked in to the bank at about 3 Friday afternoon, handed a teller a threatening note that mentioned harm to others and a weapon, took money and fled through the bank’s north door.

He did not display a weapon.

After the media displayed a picture of the suspect from bank surveillance cameras, sheriff’s investigators received several tips Saturday pointing to Oliver as the robber

No bond has been set at this time.

Johnson says Miller’s prior arrests include aggravated assault, criminal attempted murder, robbery by force, possession of a firearm and drug distribution.
