Saltillo Teacher Lands National Honor

(SALTILLO, Miss) WCBI A Saltillo teacher has landed one of the most prestigious awards given educators across the country.

President Barack Obama has named Jenny Simmons as a winner of the Presidential Award For Excellence In Mathematics and Science Teaching.  Simmons has taught math, calculus and dual credit college algebra at Saltillo High School  for 31 years.  She has also consulted on the writing of math textbooks as well as serving on various  state and national boards focusing on math education.  Simmons gets a ten thousand dollar cash award and a chance to travel to Washington to receive the honor.
