Scam Artist Hits Tupelo Neighborhoods

TUPELO, MS (WCBI)- Tupelo Fire officials are trying to keep people from getting burned financially.   Chief Thomas Walker says he has received multiple reports of a woman going through Tupelo neighborhoods claiming to be collecting money for the Tupelo Fire Department.  Walker says his department is not conducting a fund raising drive and has not authorized anybody else to collect money using the departments name.   Walker adds the only time the department does any fund raising is during Fire Prevention Week and even then firemen are  in Tupelo Fire  Department uniforms and only call on Tupelo businesses to help.
