COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus High School will soon have a new principal, and she’s a familiar face.

In a quick special-called meeting Friday afternoon, the school board announced Lori Cargile will be getting the promotion.

She’s been working at CHS for 10 years – four of them as an assistant principal.

When she starts her new job July 1, Cargile tells WCBI her goal will be to make sure students are prepared when they graduate.

“I want to look at our teacher support system, to make sure that we’re doing everything possible to not only get quality teachers, but keep quality teachers,” she said. “And then as always, we want to look at the academics – making sure that we’re giving our students the best possible curriculum and the technology that’s needed, so they can become career and college ready.”

Cargile will replace Undray Scott.

She’ll have a starting salary of $87, 300 a year in her new position.
