Columbus, Mississippi (WCBI) – Columbus police make another arrest and increase the charges in the drive-by shooting that rocked a north side neighborhood.

Antonius Vonshay Williams, 23, was arrested Tuesday afternoon. Christopher Armstrong, 22, was captured by officers shortly after the Monday morning shooting.

Both men now face seven counts of aggravated assault, one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and one count of drive-by shooting. Armstrong was originally charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of drive-by shooting.

The shooting happened on 6th Avenue North.

Police say Armstrong and Williams fled in Ford Explorer but wrecked a block away, that’s when Armstrong was arrested.

Investigators say they were told the incident was in retaliation for an incident earlier Monday but have not confirmed a motive.

Armstrong was released from prison last fall after serving part of an armed robbery sentence.
