Secretary Of State On Absentee Ballots

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – This week, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann told the Starkville Rotary Club that when he came on the job, 29 counties had more registered voters than residents.

Hosemann says his office is working hard to purge voter rolls.

Hosemann sees it as a key component to stop absentee ballot fraud.

He says, “And also, as you know, we published the number of absentee ballots witnessed by any individual. And in Lowndes County we found one that had 150 that she had witnessed, And so I think the bright light of the print and the media have helped a lot. We are seeing  less witnessing of absentee ballots. And that’s the way it should be.”
