Shannon Man Killed In Head-On Crash

SHANNON, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lee County man was killed in a head-on collision Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on Highway 245, near Shannon, about 8 A.M.

Coroner Carolyn Green says Michael Simmons Jr., 32, of Shannon was ejected from his truck and died at the scene.

Green says Simmons’ truck collided with a car.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate a mid-morning head-on collision in Lee County that claimed the life of Tupelo man.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 8:00am, on MS 245 near County Road 54.

Upon arriving it appeared Christina C Boston, 29, of Houston, was traveling north bound, in  a 2011 Kia Rio, when she apparently crossed over into the south bound lane and collided head-on into a 1998 Chevrolet S-10, driven by Michael Simmons, 32, of Tupelo.

Simmons was ejected from his vehicle and died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Boston was transported to NMMC with moderate injuries.
