SHANNON, MS – (WCBI)  Services are set for Monday for longtime Shannon civic and political leader Bill Curtis.

The 78 year old Curtis passed away Saturday after an extended illness  Curtis leaves a political legacy in the Lee County city serving two terms as alderman before being elected Mayor for 3 terms. Curtis also served as city judge. During his time in office Curtis led an annexation effort that double the towns size as well as securing grants to improve water service and parks.  His civic work included being a charter member and founder of the Lions Club. Visitation is from 3-6 Sunday at Lee Memirial and from 1-2 Monday at First Baptist Church Shannon prior to the 2pm memorial
