Aberdeen, Mississippi (WCBI) – Monroe County investigators say a couple is buying cell phones and paying for them with counterfeit money.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says the duo is answering ads for cell phones that are being sold on Craigslist. They meet up with the sellers and give them the fake money.

Cantrell says the couple is using $10 bills all the way up to $100 bills.

Now, deputies want your help finding Dan Judd and Shontell Judd. She also goes by the name Shontell Wilbon.

Cantrell believes there are scam victims in Monroe, Chickasaw, Clay, Lowndes and possibly Lee Counties.

“While you are looking at your money, they get in their car and leave with your phone. And when you take it and try to pass it on a bank or whatever, you realize it’s counterfeit money. So what they are doing, they are passing counterfeit money and making this money we assume on their own,” explained Cantrell.

Arrest warrants have been issued for the couple for false pretense.
