LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The search continues for a New Hope man who has been missing for several weeks. Now that search is focused on his home. Lowndes County investigators have been conducting an aggressive search at Manuel Vasquez’s home.

The Sheriff’s Department and Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant have been at the Wind Chase Drive home for two days.

Wednesday night, county investigators, along with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation searched the woods, using lights, around the property where the house is located.

Earlier in the evening an unidentified man was led away from the scene in the back of sheriff’s department patrol car.

Investigators have not told WCBI if he has been charged.

Earlier in the day a woman was  taken to the hospital when she was found unresponsive by deputies. We are told she is a family member.

Vasquez, his wife of 20 years and their three children moved to new hope from texas two years ago.

Investigators say Vasquez was last seen June 24th to go to a retreat at an unknown location with an unknown person. Family members tell WCBI he left with a large amount of cash.
