Columbus Man Charged in Shooting

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man is behind bars after allegedly opened fire on his ex-girlfriend.

Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25- year old Roy Hopkins Thursday on Winfrey Rd. in Caledonia.

Deputies responded to the residence after shots were reported. Deputies say several shots were fired at the victim’s car as she drove away. Deputies found two bullet holes in the vehicle. They believe a domestic altercation between Hopkins and his girlfriends led to the shooting.

Hopkins is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Weapon. Bond has been set at $30,000.
