GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s down to the final hours for two candidates hoping to fill the District 16 state Senate seat left vacant by the death of long-time public servant Bennie Turner last month.

Voters in all of Clay County and parts of Lowndes, Noxubee and Oktibbeha counties will go to the polls Tuesday to pick between West Point businessman Kenny Fowler and Clay County lawyer Angela Turner Lairy, who is Turner’s daughter.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The winner will be sworn in later this week or early next week and serve the remaining three year’s on Turner’s term
