COLUMBUS,Miss. (WCBI) —  Punxsutawney Phil was not kidding when he forecast 6 more weeks of winter. We are finally in the clear of the frigid temperatures, and moving onto sunny skies with warm temperatures.

“When its so great like today, I’d rather, you know have more outdoor classes or just not go to class at all,” says Conor Haultman.

If you were like me this morning, heading to work or school was a challenge.

After a weekend filled with sunshine & festivals, many of us are left wanting to ditch work and hit a hiking trail.

Spring fever, has truly set in.

West Givens says, “I personally would rather be outside instead of being inside.”

And a few teachers actually feel the same.

Givens goes on to say, “Some teachers make it easy for us and actually have class outside.”

Students try to take advantage of any chance they can to soak up the sun.

” Spend a lot of my time coped up inside studying, so its pretty nice when i can actually come out and see the sun, even if i am continuing to study,” says Shelby Hancock as she studies at the Riverwalk.

But if you aren’t lucky enough to hit the books outdoors or work from a patio, Columbus offers a multitude of activities to do outside over the weekends

Whether you enjoy a picnic out at the lock and dam or a stroll down by the river, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

With a seven day forecast with very little rain in store, many of us will have to continue to fight this spring fever. The only cure, is to get outside and enjoy.
