Starkville Aldermen Push Forward With New Health Policy

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A national group sparks some controversy for Starkville aldermen, but they don’t back down from what they say is a valuable addition to employee health insurance options.

Alderman Ben Carver’s effort Tuesday night to remove the new “Adult Plus One Adult” option failed to get any support from other aldermen.

Under the option which takes effect Oct. 1, the employee must provide a signed affidavit that the other adult has lived with them for at least a year.

The premium would be about $300 per month.

A press release last week from a national gay and lesbian group put a spotlight on the city, although several other Mississippi towns offer similar coverage.
