STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Starkville residents will now have access to better Internet service.

MaxxSouth Broadband has now launched a new fiber-to-the-home, one gig service for its customers in the area.

The company says it replaces outdated copper wires and coaxial cable.

CEO Peter Kahelin tells WCBI they’re thrilled to be making the upgrade in Starkville.

“We are excited about this,” Kahelin said. “It’s taken a lot of time, a lot of money. We built the plant in record time. We are committed to making this happen here in Starkville. We think the customers are going to really enjoy the service.”

MaxxSouth has about 45,000 subscribers in 60 communities throughout the state.
