STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The Starkville Police Department (SPD) is looking for leads in a string of stolen vehicles.

According to a press release provided by the SPD, the cases largely coincide with the past two Mississippi State University home football games (Oct. 3 and Oct. 10).

Suspects, per the release, are allegedly keen on Ford Trucks and GMC SUVs. Most of the vehicles “had the keys left inside.”

Surveillance footage gathered by investigators reportedly shows individuals exiting their vehicles, checking other vehicles “in order to gain entrance.”

According to the release, the suspects are allegedly focused on “keyless entry pads, which are easily broken into.” Vehicle owners are reportedly leaving the keys inside the vehicle in favor of the key fob, allowing suspects to drive away unfettered.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is encouraged to call the SPD at 662-323-4131 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
