Starkville Seeking Snake Sightings

SPD PRESS RELEASE

On March 18, 2016 Animal Control Officers were contacted and given information that a Red Tail Boa, similar to the one pictured below, went missing from 503 West Garrard Rd. We were advised by this pet owner that the snake is about 7 feet long. Animal Control has not received any information on any sightings of this snake, but we have closely patrolled the area daily, looking under houses, sheds, holes in the ground, brush piles, wooded areas, and in trees near the area where the snake went missing. We have spoken to several residents and answered several questions of concerned citizens. We ask that the citizens in the area remain vigilant, keeping an eye on small pets and remind your children to stay away from snakes. We ask that if anyone in the area sees a snake of this description, please call Animal Control during normal business hours at 662-769-2728 or if it’s after hours please call the police department at 662-323-4131.
