State Inmate Dies In Holmes County
LEXINGTON, Miss. (AP) – An inmate from Monroe County who was found unresponsive in his jail cell in Holmes County has died.
Reginald “Reggie” Jones did not respond during headcount Wednesday morning. He says when someone checked on him, he was laying in his cell unresponsive.
Warden Barry Rule says Jones was treated by paramedics on site and then taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March says the coroner checked for signs of trauma but found none. Officials are awaiting results of an autopsy and toxicology tests for more information.
Jones was serving four years on a sexual battery count from Monroe County. He turned 33 on Wednesday, the day he died.
