State Searching For New MDA Director

NEW ALBANY, Miss. – (WCBI) Governor Phil Bryant says he wants to act quickly when it comes to picking the next Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority in order to keep the states momentum in landing new projects moving forward.

The spot came open when current director Brent Christensen took a job in North Carolina

Union County Development Association Director Phil Nanney agrees the state needs a point man in place fairly quickly but would like to see the Governor pick someone who recognizes that job recruitment doesn’t have to be limited to the the bigger spots in Mississippi.

” Mr. Christensen has done a good job leading MDA in his short term there. In his absence, I would like to see things to be focused on the equal opportunities, the growth. I’d love to see somebody come in who really has a heart for Mississippi and Mississippi’s people so that we might see more jobs brought to the state, especially to help increase general income for lower and middle income families and ease the burden that’s been placed on them from the administration in Washington,” says Phil Nanney, UCEDA.

Bryant has not said yet if there will be a national search for the new MDA chief.
